I Should Know

by Chris Hartman

She changed so much since I last saw her so long ago
When did she dye her hair, when did she start to smoke?
Some things always change, not always for the good
Somethings stay the same, I should know

I never was able to talk to you, I don't know why
But you still did all you could to be apart of my life
But I wouldn't have it, so I pushed you away
Now I'm here alone, wondering why
You even loved me, but I should know
I should know
Why I was a little more than disinclined to open up to you
But you still loved me
Yeah, you still loved me
I don't know why, but I should know

I threw it back at your hands
I threw it back at your expense
I climbed out the window
I did'nt know what I missed
In your eyes, the pain in your eyes
God, why don't I know?
